The Porcelain Veneer Procedure
The veneer procedure has several steps in achieving a great smile. First, diagnosis and treatment planning will happen through an appointed consultation. You will want to take an active role in the planning your smile design. Through this consultation, your doctor will utilize photographs, study models, and wax-up presentations to review the plan and the upcoming results of this procedure. During the review, you are welcome to ask any questions and to discuss treatment in your smile plan.

The second step is an appointment where the teeth will be prepared for the veneer procedure. The teeth are lightly buffed and approximately one half of a millimeter of each tooth involved is removed. Sometimes anesthesia is not even needed. A mold is then taken of your teeth and sent to a professional dental lab for fabrication.
At the time of your last appointment, your doctor will first place the veneer on your teeth with water or glycerin to check the fit and color. At this point the color of the veneer can still be adjusted by the shade of the cement used to adhere it. Once the color is determined, and the veneer is ready to be applied, the teeth involved are cleansed with specific chemicals to achieve a bond. Special cement is placed between the teeth and the veneer and a visible light beam is used to harden the cement.
Depending on the number of teeth that are receiving the veneer procedure, each of the appointments will take from one to two hours of time for the doctor to help produce a wonderful pleasing result for you.
