A crown serves many functions. It not only supports the tooth when there is no longer sufficient tooth structure left to place a filling, but also may be used to protect the structure of a tooth that is fractured or broken.

Where damage to a person's teeth is extreme, and apparently beyond repair, we can use crowns made of semi-precious or precious metals, or porcelain fused to metal or an all porcelain material to make the smile appear "as new". This technique is extremely reliable for repairing the most severe of dental problems, by correcting teeth to offer a complete smile and a functional bite. What is a crown procedure?

Fitting a crown requires at least two visits to our office. Initially, we will remove decay, shape the tooth, and fit it with a temporary crown of either plastic or metal.

On a subsequent visit, we will remove the temporary crown, and then fit and adjust the final crown. Finally, we will cement the crown into place and you have a new beautiful looking tooth.
